Any experience with cannabis oil?

Postby Scilla » Fri Apr 21, 2017 3:20 pm

I just thought I'd check with people here: does anybody have any experience with cannabis oil, either thc or cbd? I live in northern europe and here there's an intense debate about this in terms of thc being able to kill cancer cells and/or cbd being able to reduce side effects from chemo. Any opinions or experiences with this?

I don't have any personal experience with it, but an acquaintance of mine does. He uses it as part of his protocols from the Chipsa Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico.

His story: "...stage 3 multiple myeloma a rare blood cancer considered incurable, stage 3 is the worst stage...after seeing such poor 3% Or less sure rate with conventional treatments, chemo and radiation, and reading up on all the different modalities at Chipsa that are time tested actually, just buried by western medicine, Chipsa was a no brainer to try first. I knew at the very least I was gonna get a great 3-4 week detox and immune system booster no matter what and would be better able to deal with whatever came up next. I've been very blessed in my healing and other than a little local radiation on a very problematic spot, everything else has been naturally killing my cancer and boosting my immune system."

He was diagnosed a couple of years ago and is doing great.

Me too. While I do have my account still open, I don't visit it. I don't understand what everybody sees/wants with it. I suspect for some, they don't have much of a social life outside of it.

I used CBD oil during my treatment (just finished in February) to control nausea, help with sleep, and increase appetite. I didn't do any daily dosing with it but used as necessary in place of anti nausea medicine that seemed to cause diarrhea. I did not use it as a cancer treatment -did the surgery/chemo for that.
I also have a close friend suffering with multiple myeloma. She uses CBD oil on a daily basis to deal with pain (2 broken vertebrae) and help with sleep. She has been using it regularly for a year or more in conjunction with her maintenance chemo and naturopath supplements. She has not seen any miracles in her disease from her use but has appreciated its abilities to dull her pain and allow her to sleep.

Are there any side effects associated with CBD?

It sounds like it would be a good idea to get some cbd oil for my mom. She starts chemo next week and can't "afford" to lose any weight.

Hannah,

I suppose there are a possibility of side effects with the CBD as every system responds differently to drugs. I had none and the dispensary I purchased recommended starting with a very low dose (2-3 drops) to see how I would respond. Their recommendation for normal use was 1 drop per kg. So I worked my way up to 7-8 drops. (I was around 170 lbs)

Hope that helps,

Beth

Thanks Beth. Base on the numbers you gave me, I take it that you meant 1 drop per 10 kg. Am I right? My mom weighs around 95-97 pounds, so I guess she'd need 4-5 drops per day.

Not sure yet, if I can even get hold of cannabis oil. Will try though.

Hi Scilla,

I live in Oregon so it is legal here, and I went and purchased some for my mom from a dispensary. I bought some CBD oil and a "vape pen". The CBD oil has a very low THC content so my mom doesn't feel "high" per se. It seems to really be helping her! She had her first round of chemo this past week, and was pretty nauseous. So much so that at one point she threw up the anti-nausea and appetite stimulant medication she is on. A few pulls of the CBD oil worked wonders, because she got the anti-nausea and appetite stimulant effects that way without having to swallow anything.

I have to say that it seems to have really helped her mood, too. She has never used marijuana before in her entire life, so this was kind of a big deal for her, but she says it's really helping. It's definitely worth a try, if you can get some.

I take in Texas where it's illegal. I also take nutritional supplements like turmeric. Not sure if it will make a difference in the end but there's some science behind it so why not throw the kitchen sink at this monster? No adverse side effects in the literature or experienced myself.

I've been using the cannabis oil, and I don't see the amazing benefits everyone is claiming. I'm wondering if there's a difference in the type I'm using, it's made from hemp. Maybe the real deal THC infused oil helps more, or has more CBD.
