1 year stage Stage IV

My mum was diagnosed around a year ago with stage 4 metastasis to the lungs after around a year of being told she had ovarian cysts. In the hospital they told her she had came to late and that cancer had "leaked all over her abdominal cavity." the surgeon gave her a death sentence and I thought I was going to lose my mum less than a semester into my freshmen year of college. Today my mum called me and told me that the Xeloda and Avastin treatment has shrunk her lung nodules and I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. I'm hoping soon she will just be on maintenance. I would've never thought we'd come so far in just a year. I know I don't port much but finding you all helped me cope so much. I am so grateful for everyone here and those who have left us too. I know many of you are my seniors but I can't help but think of you all as my close, amazing friends.Thank you Thank you Thank you all, truly.

Hi Emily,

What a wonderful news. My mom was diagnosed with Stage IV around the same time as your mother, with also lung metastasis. My mom's mets are in the pleural cavity though causing recurrent effusion so it's quite annoying. She has started Irinotecan + Erbitux and we will be seeing the onc in a week to access the first results.

I wish the best for you and your mother.

Hi there. I am new here and still in a bit of shock- my mom was just diagnosed with Stage IV too. We are still reeling with the news. It gives me hope to hear that your mum is doing well 1 year later. Thank you for sharing!

So glad to hear your mother is coming along well on chemo & seeing some good results. It must be a huge relief for you.

Best Wishes for continued response for your DM.
