Reversal

Postby Swirdfish » Sat Apr 15, 2017 6:02 am

Hi all,

By now I've had my reversal one day ago. Things are good and enjoyed my first poo. The only issue is that I feel the strong urge to go but I don't empty completely. This takes at least ten times to go to the toilet and then I'm fine.

Now what if I don't have a toilet nearby?? Anyone have any suggestions how I can limit the urge to go. At least until a toilet is close by.

Reversal has been easy and this is the only issue I have. It's like I don't fully empty and only small amounts. Is this clustering? But once empty I'm fine.

Even farts feel like I need to go asap. Quite annoying. But whenever I get the urge to go I need to go. No detours.

Also some ideas on a gift or present for my surgeon. He has been awesome. Funny gifts.

Ok so I was at the neighbours house having a few beers and I had to rush out like 3 times to come back home to the toilet.

If I'm at functions or out how can I control my urgency??

Other times I'm normal.

I'm still in the early stages of treatment, so can't really help with the bathroom part of your post, but you asked for suggestions for funny gifts for your surgeon and I had to post. Two years ago for Christmas, I gave my husband a plush rectum. I ordered it from Amazon. The company makes a variety of plush organs, and for some reason I decided to get him a rectum. Perhaps your surgeon would enjoy one as well?

Congradulations on getting the plumbing hooked back up.
To slow things down try Imodium, maybe start off with a 1/2 of one and work up if needed. Keep your food plain and work up to regular food slowly.
I know the reversal surgery for me was a lot harder than the original LAR surgery. It takes time, measure your progress in weeks not days. You will notice as each week passes the bad days will get farther apart and when you hit five months you will look back and wonder how the hell you made it threw that shit.
Hang in there you will be pooping like a big boy again pretty soon.

Okay I took an Imodium. I need help!! I cannot stay off the toilet. X3 accidents already plus x3 in the shower.

Now I know why people opt for a permanent bag. But that's not an option for me.

I just wish I could clear it all out and get on with my day.

Dear Swirdfish,

Have you tried a combination of fiber (Optifiber) and Imodium? I read about it here in the forum and in the right amounts i think it can help clustering and to slow things down.

What I dread, more than a bag, is to be in the situation you are right now. I hope it gets better with time. I really really do.

Until then try to spoil yourself in the quiet moments you have and keep good energies. A little Humour has always been a life saver for me in my thoughest days.

Sending you good vibes and wishing you all the best!

Stay strong!

Thanks Freddy,

I think the Imodium gave me some of my life back, however it may of worn off and a little midnight accident. Another pill and I managed to get back to bed. I'm not going do over do it, but I think as you suggested the fibre could also help.

I'll give it a try.

Swirdfish -

Since you are a mechanic by profession, I would imagine that you must know something about BMWs ...

Fortunately, the MD Anderson Cancer Center has a website with a collection of "BMW repair manuals" (see link below)

MD Anderson - Bowel Management Webpage

I'm sure you can find something there that will be of use.

In case you didn't know already, on this message board the acronym BMW has a very special meaning -- it refers to Bowel Management Worries. I first learned about this from a 2010 post by member CRguy.

Thankyou.

The Imodium has given me some life back but only holds it in so long couple hrs. I at least have to be within 3 - 6 meters of a toilet or I'll be changing my pants.

I'll. heck the site.

Good one on the BMW's.
