Update: Mom's CT scan results clear

Postby patrickt » Fri Apr 07, 2017 10:57 am

I want to share an update and positive news on my mom's situation. 12 months ago, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 CRC (metastasized to her liver). She also had stage 1 lung cancer. It was quite alarming given that we don't have cancer in our family history. She did chemo and radiation, liver ablation, LAR surgery. She did additional radiation therapy/chemo after her surgery. My mom was 125 lbs, and at one point was less than 100 lbs. CT SCAN RESULTS SHOW SHE'S CLEAR. She's now back to work and starting to gain back some weight.

The last year was full of pain, a lot of worrying and anxiety. There were LOTS of terrible days, but some not so bad, and that was enough for my mom to continue the fight. I feel fortunate to share my mom's story and for those of you who are suffering through this or have loved ones battling it there IS a light at the end of the tunnel.

I hope it will be you sharing a similar update soon. Have a great weekend!

I'm so glad for your mom. My treatment was pure hell and I was skin and bones after surgery and had to crawl up the stairs because I was so weak. I don't miss those days. Now I am nice and fat and back to dieting. My Oncologist mentioned my weight gain, and I told him that to my kids, I looked healthy. My kids found it very upsetting to see me looking so thin and frail. It's great to feel strong, active and with a bit of skip to my step again. The more time passes from treatment, the more I am able to think about the future. I hope your mom is NED forever! Now, go make some grandbabies! (Kidding)
