I've posted a couple of times but not introduced myself. My stats are follows, best I can tell from my newb experience with cancer acronyms.

40 y/o male, 2 sons 5 & 8
Diagnosed 3/16/17, s3,t2,n1,mo
Prospect trial, no radiation
FOLFOX 4/6/17 (in lieu of radiation)
Resection scheduled summer 2017
Being treated Houston/MD Anderson

I have a friend who had the same cancer I do, mid-rectum. From him and the docs I have learned a lot. Still scared, obviously, but not nearly in the dark I was 2 and a half weeks ago. Had first FOLFOX yesterday, pump to be removed tomorrow. No side effects yet except for cold sensitivity, which actually feels pretty cool, at least at this point. Anyway, hello and sorry I have to meet you like this.

Brian

Hi, Brian, and welcome to the board. It'll be great to hear from someone in the Prospect trial.

Glad to hear you are doing well after your infusion. For many people, including me, the toughest days were after the 5FU pump came off, so days 4 and 5. Just be sure to call your doctor for any meds you need to handle anxiety, nausea, diarrhea, etc. If what they already gave you isn't helping, call so they can order something else. Don't suffer side effects needlessly.

Take care of yourself,

Judy

Timely response. Just lost the pump this afternoon. So far, no side effects other than cold sensitivity and some chemo brain. This is round one of twelve to fourteen, although the latter portion will be after surgery.

Welcome to the club. I'm glad Folfox is treating you well so far. The side effects can get worse the further you go so keep your doctor up to date on how your feeling. It's best to stay ahead on the nausea meds so it doesn't get out of control.
