Painful sex after surgery and radiation? Anyone else suffer with this?

Postby rmblack » Mon Apr 03, 2017 9:33 pm

I've searched the forum but couldn't find anything. Wondering if there are other women suffering from painful sex after having so much radiation.

Rhonda - you are not alone. There are several threads on this, here's a recent one. http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57249. Get a great gynecologist ASAP.

My nurse called me today and she and my doctor are suggesting I go back to MD Anderson. She said I have a rare case due to the fact that my tumor had grown into my vaginal wall and so much had to be cut out. Also 50 radiation treatments just made things much worse. So hopefully someone has answers for me and I can get on the right track.

Same thing happened to me except my tumor broke through my vaginal wall. Because the surgical site was so painful I could not use dislators. I still can't even stick my finger in there without a lot of pain. I was told that I can get some kind of procedure done to remove some of the scar tissue, but I am not real excited about getting another surgery in an area ravaged by radiation. I will consider it after my 4 year scans are clear.

I read a thread recenty where a woman said that if her husband knew how much sex hurt, he wouldn't have sex with her. That is such a woman thing to say. I could see myself falling in love and enduring pain for intimacy's sake. That's the only reason I am considering the surgery. Right now, attractive men make me just want to cross my legs and wince. But I'm not convinced a surgery will change that.

I had pain during sex during radiation treatments. So much pain that I had a vocal response--unusual for me. My wife said, "It's good to see you expressing your pleasure verbally for a change." I'm like, "It's pain, not pleasure."

And then......she didn't want to do it anymore. I'm like, "No, no, you don't understand...."
