New immunotherapy for advanced colon cancer

Stage 3 R/C -1 node+ ( 7/09)
5 wks radiation, 2 wks chemo: 5FU (8-9/09)
Rectal surgery: tumor removal (11/09)
10 rounds Xeloda: 3000mg/daily 1 wk on/1 wk off (1/10-6/10)
Supplements: Aspirin, Calcium, Vit. D3
03/27/17: 7+ yrs. since surgery--still NED

Not so new - we have been following this story for quite a while as it has unfolded. If you didn't know already this is our own Sleen! See: the following topic in Colon Talk forums.

She started this tread back in January 2015 so this goes back a bit over two years at least here. :D

I urge everyone that is interested in this therapy to read the above thread in the forums. Sleen walks you exactly what she went through.

8/13 FolFox,Avastin 12Tx mild sfx, Ongoing 5-FU Avastin every 3 wks.
CEA: good marker
7/7/14 CT Can't see the spleen Mets.
8/16/15 CEA Up, CT new abdominal mets. Iri, 5-FU, Avastin every 2 wks.
1/16 Iri, Erbitux and likely Avastin (Trial) CEA going >.
1/17 CEA up again dropped from Trial, Mets growth 4-6 mm in abdomen
5/2/17 Failed second trial, Hospitalized 15 days 5/11. Home Hospice 5/26, at peace 6/4/2017

Good info. I have been reading about this subject lately, and it makes me hopeful.

One negative about immuno treatment seems to be getting your insurance to approve these expensive drugs and treatments. I have seen a few "is the cost of this drug worth a few months of someone's life" debates with docs or med professionals saying nope, while cancer patients and their families especially saying yes yes yes, it's worth it and more.

3 out of 16 lymph nodes positive
perineural invasion/lymphovascular invasion
infiltrating, mod differentiated adenocarcinoma with a mucinous component
separate tumor nodules present in pericolonic adipose tissue
MSI-high
Baseline PET scan clear 9/16 CEA 0.5
FOLFOX 10/16- 3/17
April 16th, CT scan clear. CEA 1.1
Lynch "inconclusive"
Colonoscopy 10/5/2017 clear
