My oncologist stopped the oxaliplatin for my 5th treatment due to neuropathy. This means I only had it for the first 4 treatments. Even though I've only had one treatment without the oxi, it has made a huge difference to how I feel. The neuropathy in my hands has pretty well gone, although my feet are still quite numb. I was having to wear thick gloves most of the time, even in the house, now no gloves even outside!
I also think that I have less fatigue this time and generally feel better. I still have pain at each end of my digestive tract and I'm slowly losing my hair but, wow do I feel better than I did with the oxi! Ut nakes the treatment tolerable whereas it seemed to take over ny life with the effects of the oxaliplatin!
I just hope I've had enough oxi as I'd hoped to last for at least 6 treatments but I suppose it's a balancing act... benefits versus risk of permanent damage.
Next treatment marks half way for me...still feels like the end is a long way off but it now feels doable!
Love and hugs to everyone following this same journey. Xxxxx

I did this - dropped ox for the last 4.
This was on recommendation from oncologist at MSKCC.
My onc here agreed it was a reasonable approach, especially since I'm young, just to avoid possibility of permanent neuropathy as much as possible.
I was comfortable with it especially considering they had offered me to be part of a random study of 6 rounds folfox instead of 12.
I never had awful side effects but it still made for nicer chemo days... shorter by an hour or so? (I've sort of blocked it from memory), and no more cold sensitivity.
Hope you are happy with whatever you decide!

It’s a great relief after dropping oxaliplatin, there might be mild side effect which are bearable. In the end its make life easy. I wish him Good Luck!!
