Seeking advice

Postby Loribob » Tue Mar 21, 2017 12:22 pm

My husband was Dx Stage 4 rectosigmoid ca with Liver mets ( 6) November 2015. Had radiation Dec 2015 for 5 weeks ( 25 sessions) . Colon and liver resection February 2016 followed by 6 months Folfox. Recent MRI showed new liver met , will have RFA soon. Met with medical oncologist who does not feel second line chemo or Hepatic Arterial infusion would be of any addtional benefit. Any thoughts would be appreciated. We live in Canada( montreal).

Kind regards,

Nothing helpful to add, unfortunately, but I was wondering if you had any place in mind for HAI, if you decide to pursue it? Unfortunately, I think Sunnybrook is the only place that does it in Canada, and I've only seen it there in the context of a specific trial.
DD dx Dec.2012, age 57, Stage I CRC
2013/01 complicated resection
2016 summer/fall CEA slowing rising...(2.1, 2.8, 3.1)
2016/12 scan shows "something" on RL of liver; fna biopsy ordered
2017/01 confirmed 1 met to liver (1.5x2 cm); Stage IVa; cea 3.1
2017/02 5mm node on lung
2017/03 liver resection
2017/05 wedge resection of lung node
2017/09 CEA rising....5.6, 8.9...
2017/12 pet confirms cancer is back in hepatic lymph node

Thank you for your feedback. The hospital that my husband is being treated does do HAI, the issue we have though is that his oncologist doesnt feel it is very effective, ( long term survival) vs no HAI or sevond line chemo. Luckily he is a candidate for RFA , ( which his doc says is the best chance) i guess was hoping to hear about other options ( chemo wise) that could hopefully have shown to reduce reoccurrances. Second line chemo statistically does not appear to be as effective as first line ( which didnt really work) guess just have to keep pushing for HAI.
