Pain 4 months after surgery

Postby Need2talk » Thu Mar 16, 2017 9:12 pm

So I had a colon resection on nov 2 and have random times of colon pain, lower back pain and abdomen pain. Lately I am scared it's back, but could it just be nerve/ continued post surgery issues. I am worried all over again

It took me a few months to feel better after resection too. I think it's probably normal. Best to just talk it over with your GI.
Hope you feel better soon.

Geez, I still have pain and it's been 3.5 years!

My Oncologist told me that it is normal to have random, shooting pains and not to worry about pain unless it keeps you up at night. Let your scans tell you when to worry.

Hi there,

I am four months post surgery as well and have random pain. A few weeks after my resection my small intestine looped down into my pelvis causing an obstruction which was extremely painful. It was able to be resolved with an NG tube but I wondered if my pain afterwards was relating to that or the surgery. The pain is slowly getting less and less. At any rate I am not sure that my response helps you all that much except to say you are not alone and I have been wondering about the pain as well. My pain moves around. I can have it anywhere from my upper to lower abdomen and in my back.

I am really glad you brought this up Need2talk, because I have been having pain that jumps around for a few months now. The pain moves from either side of my lower back, and the sometimes to my sides. It feels more like discomfort than a sharp pain. I have had one scan after I started feeling the pain and I am NED. But I still get freaked out by the pain all the time, so I am a bit relieved that you guys make it sound like it might more normal than i thought.

Also, I have found using a heating pad to be very effective at relieving the pain.

Pain is normal with surgery and it tends to stay for quiet some time. My pain moves around all in the lower area. My Oncologist is convinced that everything is fine
