Fellow DK37 (Tom Marsilje) with Katie Couric on TV!

Postby Maia » Sat Mar 11, 2017 2:52 pm

Cancer Breakthroughs

Thursday 03/09/2017

Guest host Katie Couric (on Charlie Rose Show) leads a discussion about new breakthroughs in cancer treatment, with Dr. Bill Nelson, Dr. Louise Perkins, Dr. Neil Segal, and drug discovery scientist Tom Marsilje.

It was on air yesterday, if you missed it, it's here:

https://charlierose.com/videos/30195?autoplay=true

This is so important! In his words "An hour-long serious discussion on cancer - with a significant amount of time on CRC & early-onset CRC, with a very large amount of discussion on immunotherapies & clinical trials!"
Big congrats!! :)

(BTW, Tom keeps a curated clinical trial finder for MSS CRC (I have the honour to help him with that project, the finder is the one in my signature line) and posted about it here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=56842 )

Tom did a great job explaining his own experience and offering insights into others'. Wonderful to have such an advocate, one with the science and personal story. Well done Tom!

Yes Tom did a great job and he does help a lot of people. That day of his diagnoses had to be so hard.

I'm so glad he's on our team.

I've always felt they should lower the age for getting scoped.

Thanks Maia

Tom is a superhero of CRC awareness. Hats off to him and I sincerely hope and pray the new chemo combination he is trying will get him to where he needs to be for his own upcoming clinical trial.

Thank you Jorteg0128!

I started my first updated infusion of FOLFIRI/Erbitux + Maraviroc pill today!

We'll know in a month if this treatment combo is working - either through the next scan (April), CEA or clinical symptoms.
The liver tumors were so fast growing, I think the clinical symptoms may give some serious clues before the scan!

I most surely do not want to die anytime soon for both my family or myself (the liver disease is actually quite serious) but also for the thousands of fellow patients I am actively helping to educate & empower through my various projects (some of which take up a lot of time - allowing a bit less time here as DK37 that original or as hoped...)

Take care,
-DK37

Well done, can't see it here myself but proud of you none the less. Always get the impression your one of life's givers. So I will echo what has been said and pray too that it does the job. We watched some the size of small oranges implode with chemo in the liver.
Take care

Excellent interview. Tom, thanks for all you've done to help patients navigate the ins and outs of this disease. You look good. Neil Segal is my oncologist at Memorial, a good doctor.
