Just watched the Monday night show AND the youngens BROUGHT IT ! once again
I would have a tough time sending anyone home after tonight.

Something which stood out for me was Brennley Brown singing "River" = THAT is an epic song choice and a great performance
Love Joni Mitchell, yet another great, talented Canuck gal !

Something else which struck me was "Human" performed by Jesse Larson

Sometimes when the reality of what we have to deal with here on forum, gets too intense
we start Off Topic discussions just to keep us real.

I started this O/T diversion ... The Voice topic a while back and tonight’s show had one performance which I hope may resonate with all folks in this topic and others on the forum right now...... especially one other topic ...... and it speaks to both sides of that discussion equally.

The song is “Human” and the lyrics should speak to us ALL.
I hope others agree

RAG'N'BONE MAN LYRICS

"Human"

I'm only human
I'm only—I'm only—
I'm only human, human

Maybe I'm foolish,
Maybe I'm blind
Thinking I can see through this
And see what's behind
Got no way to prove it
So maybe I'm lying

But I'm only human after all,
I'm only human after all
Don't put your blame on me
Don't put your blame on me

Take a look in the mirror
And what do you see?
Do you see it clearer
Or are you deceived
In what you believe?

'Cause I'm only human after all,
You're only human after all
Don't put the blame on me
Don't put your blame on me

Some people got the real problems
Some people out of luck
Some people think I can solve them
Lord heavens above

I'm only human after all,
I'm only human after all
Don't put the blame on me
Don't put the blame on me

Don't ask my opinion,
Don't ask me to lie
Then beg for forgiveness
For making you cry,
For making you cry

'Cause I'm only human after all,
I'm only human after all
Don't put your blame on me,
Don't put the blame on me

Some people got the real problems
Some people out of luck
Some people think I can solve them
Lord heavens above

I'm only human after all,
I'm only human after all
Don't put the blame on me
Don't put the blame on me

I'm only human, I make mistakes
I'm only human that's all it takes
To put the blame on me
Don't put the blame on me

'Cause I'm no prophet or messiah
You should go looking somewhere higher

I'm only human after all,
I'm only human after all
Don't put the blame on me,
Don't put the blame on me

I'm only human, I do what I can
I'm just a man, I do what I can
Don't put the blame on me
Don't put your blame on me

I agree, Brennley was my fav!! She is so sweet and innocent, I think that adds to that powerful voice!

Steph, I know who Sia is & have seen her perform on the show, but not familiar w/her music. I c/n understand one word Hunter sang of the song. Was it only me?

I don't know who is my fav yet, but I do think Jesse Larson "killed it" w/the Stevie Wonder song this week!

Go to you Tube, and pull up Sia , Chandelier.. it's awesome !

Enjoyed seeing Alisan Porter debut her record.

Michael, I remember you really enjoyed when Jordan Smith (winner, Season 9) sang that song (Chandelier).

I didn't start watching til Season 8 when Sawyer Fredericks won. Don't know how they figure their seasons since show began in 2011.

That's way too much input for a mathematical person to comprehend ....

That's another one where all I could understand was the chorus. So apparently wasn't "his register", but Hey, he & Adam tried to expand (Jesse Larson) his lower register. Maybe the rest of you could understand it.

I've got about 4 "favs" so far.

first off I believe they run a "season" in the fall and then again in the spring = 2 per calendar year ????
started 6 yrs ago so now season 12 ... I recall starting to watch about season 5 with CeeLo & Christina BUTT didn't have a great impact as I was also chekkin' out other AGT / Xfactor type shows as well. started paying more attention with Shakira and Usher in season 6.

agree : some singers can "talk" a lyric in low register with great clarity and also project the sung lyric with power and range
many have their own range and power limits which brings them thru "cleaner" on the live stage.

still think the miking / EQ / mixing levels play a part in this ( as a picky audio tech head  )
the band is awesome and their staging / backup vocals kick ass ... BUTT ... maybe just BUTT .. can take away a bit from what we get thru online / broadcast / cable feeds from the actual performer
JMO

this week ... I would have picked the same two for the instant save sing off even tho some of those moving thru didn't have their strongest performances IMO

I love the youngens ... they are both GREAT !!!!!!!!! ( Brennley and Aliyah ) in the same class as Wé McDonald last season

I'm going to take your word on that CR as a "techie", though my uncast vote will go to the ones I can hear loud & clear, meaning have the strength in vocals/register to hit their marks & enunciate. One that stands out to me is Vanessa Ferguson. Doesn't appear to strain @ all.
Agree on the singoff as well & certainly Aliyah could have competed w/WE` McDonald.

Thank you dear sir,
As popular is the show is, why not let the network, have 2 seasons, as a rerun of the old would not be profitable to anyone, who got bumped !

Don't hate on me for saying this but I find Aliyah and brennley too squeaky clean and therefore boring, too cookie-cutter. I like a bit of personality and an interesting backstory. It's not their fault they are young and lack experience but the ladies' biggest struggle in life is probably a bad hair day. I want someone a bit more colourful to win.

Team Gwen has only two singers left (both steals) and the other coaches all have three now correct?

Gwen and Alicia : 2 left each
Adam and Blake : 3 left each
......10 in total going to next week

IMO : backstory not an issue
VOICE !!!!! = THE issue

I remain unrepentant .. the youngens BRING IT sista' !!!!!

Cheers

Gosh, I hope we can "Voice" (hehehe, pun intended) our preferences & critique on here or I don't want to play anymore

Umm, the only thing I can add to my own impressions that I think Brennley is most improved is that she IS able to emote such emotion for her age into her performance. Aliyah has such a great on-stage energy, which is a talent that lends to the performance of a great singer, however she does tend to stay in a single range. Think of some of the past greats that were singing professionally or reached stardom as teens such as Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, LeAnn Rimes to name a few. Gwen Stephani began in her teens, but don't think it was professionally til years later.

The kids are among my favs. For me it's about the pipes, style, consistency in that order. Glad I'm not a a judge.

Again, some voices just carry / project better than others

The youngens were great and while I have to agree with the 2 who left, Lilli Passero's song "stylings" are great
hope she has a future 'cos that kind of music should still be heard !
Was not a huge fan of Mark's but thought he did a very good job last night on the elims.

JMO.

Yeah ! glad I'm not the judge ...... :(

I also agree with the 2 that were eliminated. Next week will be tough as it goes from 8 to 5.
Im predicting Hunter, Brennley, Chris Blue and Vanessa Ferguson as top 4.
