Darkening of soles with Xeloda..Has anyone experienced this?

Postby Beckster » Mon Feb 27, 2017 7:32 am

Hi everyone,

I just finished my 3rd round of Xeloda; however, I recently noticed that the bottom of my feet are getting dark spots. I have mild HFS, but this is a new side effect. Has anyone experienced this and if so, did it go away after treatment? I am on 3000mg a day. I am Italian and have skin that always looked like I had a tan, but this is ridiculous! I just want to finish my 8 cycles!

My wife experiences the same side effect. You need to keep up with hydration during your treatment by drinking lots of water throughout the day and you may need to use a favorite moisturizer for your hands and feet. It is a normal side effect of Xeloda, but one that can be mitigated.

Best wishes,

I drink 2-3 quarts of water a day and use Utterly Cream 3 times a day on my hands and feet.... I am going to discuss this with my oncologist. Did it go away after treatment?

Unfortunately, it is part of the treatment, but if the hand foot syndrome becomes a bigger issue than normal, your dosage can be reduced to help with the sided effects. Keep your oncologist apprised with your issue during each visit.

Best wishes.

Yes, it affected my skin and nails. I got various spots, tanned complexion, rough and very skin, lost some sensitivity etc- but it all went away gradually in a month or two.
