So scared - weird symptoms

Postby Starry40 » Sat Feb 25, 2017 2:31 pm

Hello everyone ,

I am scared to death I have colon cancer . It's a long story but here goes .
I was having bleeding and diorhea about four months ago , doctor recommended I had a colonoscopy which showed two polyps , one very large which he managed to remove without surgery . It's been three months since and now I'm getting weird symptoms that are really worrying me .
I have rectal pain on and off , the need to urgently go to the toilet the minute I wake up and then I tend to go several times during the day, always pellet like stools or thin . There is also mucous present in my stools ( sorry for all the info !!) I'm so frightened as my aunty had bowel cancer and I'm waiting for an MRI scan maybe next week . Can anyone shed any light on this for me please ?thankyou

Welcome to the group and sorry for the reason you're here. Did you get biopsy results from the polyps? It's good you had a colonoscopy due to your symptoms and family history. Hopefully your MRI scan will give you some answers!*hugs*

If you had a colonoscopy 4 months ago, and the doctor only found polyps, there is no way cancer could have developed in that short of time unless he missed something.Co'on cancer typically takes 10 years to develop.

If you got your colonoscopy from a GI, I would suggest getting another one from an experienced colorectal surgeon. I remember hearing about some kind of flat bowel cancer that does not start out as polyps and can be missed. Colorectal surgeons do a lot more colonoscopies than GIs, generally. You may be able to just send your colonoscopy video to a few other doctors for other opinions.

It sounds like you have hemorrhoids. I suggest fiber pills, probiotics, stool softeners, more fluids and laxatives. Hard pellets are not good. Cancer does not cause hard pellets. Again, a colorectal surgeon can help you with hemorrhoids, also.
