Dave Bell, CEO of Colon Cancer Prevention Project (CCPP) was an early onset colon cancer survivor himself. Diagnosed at age 44, he can attest to the "I had no idea of my family history, did not know the symptoms and was completely unaware of alternative screening options".

Because of this, and not wanting anyone else to go through what he did, the Colon Cancer Prevention Project are challenging the leaders in the colorectal cancer education, research and prevention world to adopt a policy of having a talk with your doctor by age 40
that assesses your risk, makes you and your doctor aware of symptoms and educates you on screening options.

"We could all learn a lot from Karen Walsh - about humor, making lemonade out of lemons, and passionate advocacy but what we've learned most is that we, the colorectal cancer community, are not doing people the best service by waiting to talk about colon cancer until age 50. We need to begin the conversation much earlier. This week, each day, we'll learn a little bit more about why this change in messaging is important, what we've learned, and how YOU can help make a difference. Stay tuned this week ! " Learning From Karen Walsh

The Colon Club will be supporting and signing on for CCPP's policy change and hope those on the forum will as well !

We are talking about a NEW AGE for the new age of CRC awareness !

can you afford to wait until 50

Colon Cancer Prevention Project is continuing their week-long conversation about early onset colon cancer and why you should be talking to your doctor LONG before 50. Today, they're answering some of Karen's questions about colon cancer - answers to which she wished she'd known long before.

Knowing these answers can prevent colon cancer. After all, on-time screening saves lives. It's important to know what "on-time" is for you.

We're glad you're sticking with us and hope you learn a lot about colon cancer symptoms, risks, and why you should talk to your doctor NOW.
