Another anniversary

Dxed jan 1998 ,operated on jan22 1998 to remove a stage 3c tumour from my transverse colon . Six nodes cancerous. End year 19 of survival, commence year 20. Still cancer free. Hugs to all in treatment and their caregivers ,Ron.
dx 1/98
st 3 c 6 nodes
48 sessions 5Fu/levamisole
no recurrence cea <.5
numerous l/t side effects of chemo

62f, Blessed with a wonderful husband and 2 sons
Diagnosed 6/2016, Adenocarcinoma, Colectoral primary, chemo lifer
Stage 4b, liver mass 7.0 x 4.8 cm and additional lesions, multiple lung nodes
CEA 40.9
7/12 began Folfox, Neulasta, Avastan
CT 9/12 tumor shrunk 4.4 by 3.3
CEA 9.6
Continuing Folfox, CT scheduled 12/12.
MSS, neg lynch
Put Oxiliplatin and Neulasta on hold.
CT 12/12 Hepatic dome mass shrinks to 2.9 x 2.5, other lesions shrink, no new.
CEA 3.3

DX 6/29/16 7 cm tumor, 10 cm fr av
CT scan ab,MRI abdomen - 9mm spot on liver,CT scan of chest lungs clear
Special staging MRI - clinical staging stage 3b - T3N2M0 (unless spot proves to be met)
8/11 PET scan - spot lit up not nodes
8/16 Port in, 8/17 liver microwave abltn - spot gone
8/23 6 rds FOLFOX started
PET scan 10-13 43% red of tumor and no mets shown
Exam tumor greatly reduced. Surgery 12-14-16.
Clear margins, 7 out of 13 nodes positive. Tumor 2.1 cm
Kras wild, MMS, not MSI. 6 more rds FOLFOX

4/17/15: Colonoscopy = 6cm in sigmoid + 6 polyps
4/24/15: Colectomy (no illeo)
4/27/15: Diagnosed Stage 3b CC, 2/55 lymph nodes
May2015: Genetic testing, no Lynch, FAP, Gardners
6/1/15: Started FOLFOX - BAD reaction to 5FU, switched rounds 3-8 to combo of XELODA + OXI via IV.
9/24/15: Round 8 and done with chemo!
Nov2015: First CT scan, X-rays, blood = NED
Jan2016: Bloodwork = NED
Next up: Colonoscopy & Endoscopy, more CT scans, etc

May - Aug '16: 9x FOLFOX (dropped Oxaliplatin for final Rd due to neuropathy)
Clear CT scans in April ‘16 (NED), Dec ‘16, Aug ‘17, Feb ‘18, March ‘19, Feb ‘20
Feb '17: Ileostomy reversed
CEA Post Surgery: ALWAYS 2

You Rock ! Your 20th anniversary is a testament to you as a person.

I know that life is not easy as you struggle with life-altering post-treatment effects. I can empathize as I have co-morbities similar to your own. All I can say is, you are one determined and resilient cookie. I hope for you more gentle days in your horizon.

I remember when you were 10 yrs out and I wanted to be just like you.

Sep 2013 - R liver resect, 25d hosp (liver failure/delirium, lung emboli, encephalopathy), no living cancer (pCR)
2014/15 - recovery, scopy: 2 polyps
2016 - new town/life
2018, scopy: 2 polyps
2018/20 low (1.0-1.4) CEAs/clean CTs: 4x2014, 6x2015-17, 3x2018-20
next June 2021!
