With deep sorrow and heartfelt sympathies,
I pass along Diane's ( Mrs. Frenchie ) notice of the passing of a true legend on this forum
Here

Rest in Peace Ron, forever on the Journey my friend.

Diane I send you and family Love Peace and Harmony

"They lived and laughed and loved and left,
and the world will never be the same."
- James Joyce

If ever a quote embodied a member here ... it IS Frenchie

With deepest respects

Re: 2017 : In Memoriam BrownBagger

Postby CRguy » Mon Jul 24, 2017 1:19 am

I have started a Memorial topic to honour Eric
BrownBagger ....... I don't know what to say

This post however, will not be the usual In Memoriam

Once upon a time
the ColonTalk forum was a very different place.
It seemed maybe a bit more “homey” casual chillaxed …. for folks dealing with CRC.

I was a firebrand and a bit of an in yo’ face asshole back then if someone would attack somebody else.

Developed a friendship with a fellow lung thang ganger named BrownBagger.
We chatted, posted in/out of topics, PM’d and emailed.

He once said to me “ didn’t come here to get in fights and make an enemy ”
among MANY other very astute offerings. NOT in a critical or threatening way .. he just kinda got his message out there.

Many years passed and he did more chemo than anyone ever had the bad fortune to have to do…all with grace, humility and in your face honesty…. while continuing to ride his bike about 10,000 miles !

Somebody once said his avatar of Einstein riding a bike around campus was epic …. It was , BUTT I always saw Eric on that bike … riding 10,000 miles … on any and EVERY campus !!!

We both had aging fathers who were advanced cancer patients
We discussed things in confidence we would never share in public, but each KNEW .. what we each knew.

If I told him something .. it was in the vault and he knew the same of me.

We were not always politically correct, especially with each other !
We shot a lotta shit and gave as good as we got …….

BUTT

never would I have ever doubted him or called him into question

over the last 2 months we exchanged emails and I think we both knew the sub context

He was being BrownBagger
and I was being CRguy

WE were who we ARE !

This forum
this world
my life

just got smaller, with a void which cannot be filled

Eric, BrownBagger

You are my best friend
I hold you in the light
You are with me
and I am with you
and together we will still do what we always did

Kick Ass and Take Names
and will NOT rest until cancer IS DEAD

Fuck Cancer
Long Live BrownBagger

WORD !

A Difficult Year I believe truly understates what our dear friend Kathy has endured.

Please join us in supporting her in her own topic which sadly tells us all of the tragic passing of her beloved daughter, Kim.

With deep respect and my most heartfelt sympathies to you and your family Kathy.

Our dear friend and research rock star, Tom, cancer researcher, patient and advocate, dies at 45

DK37 ( Tom ) is being honoured and remembered in this memorial topic Tom marsilje started by our dear friend exaussie.

Tom was living proof of the need to fight this disease with everything we have.
He lived his life and gave his life as a patient and researcher on the front lines.

He will be missed by all who knew him and remembered as someone we all wanted to know and support.

My deepest sympathies to his loving family and all of his friends, everywhere.
We shall not see his likes again.

Rest Peacefully my dear friend

I google-stumbled across the blog of Tom Floria - don't know if he was a member here.
Tom went to the Great Yooper in the sky, but his legacy lives on in this
very informative blog he kept from 2009-2015.

Allison Thomas was selected as a 2018 Featured Survivor and sadly, passed away last June.
She will be honored by the Colon Club in this years publication.
She is already in the hearts of this years survivors :
But no one, including staff, could tell us what to expect when one of our sisters didn’t make it this year. You see, our Angel sister was there every day of the retreat, she is the reason we keep fighting, she is the reason we must find a cure. We didn’t get to meet her, Colon Cancer took that from us. And when something attacks a family, we attack back. And we will fight for Allison. We will fight for each and every person that has been taken from this disease.
- Kristina Smith

My sincere sympathies to her friends and family for your loss.
She was truly one of our own.
Respectfully
CRguy
