With all the bad news on this board lately, I'm hesitant to post a bit of good news - but I'm doing so because there are newer people on here that could use seeing some good news for a change.
I had liver surgery on Dec. 20 to remove two suspected liver mets. Today the doctor gave me the pathology report from the parts of the liver that he removed. One suspected met was not cancer at all, and the other suspected met was cancer - or used to be. It's totally necrotic - meaning all dead tissue, no active cancer cells. 'For the moment, I'm cancer-free! The Folfox killed it all!
I will be resuming chemo in a week or so for a short time, along with monitoring every 3 months for a while. I understand that this is by no means a cure, but it has the potential to be. If it comes back we'll deal with it at that point and try again.
Having cancer is like being on a roller coaster. There are ups and downs, with a lot of barfing thrown in. Right now I'm on an up, but I know that a down could come at any time. At the moment, I'm just enjoying the view from up on top of this contraption and not worrying about the rest of the ride.
