Still NED three years after recurrence

Postby Sophy » Sun Nov 20, 2016 8:13 pm

I was really nervous before CT scan last week but it was fine - report says still NED!

This means nothing has grown in the 28 months I have been on ADAPT (capecitabine and celecoxib) since my third thoracotomy in August 2014. Also no new mets have apeared since the original 5 lung mets found on CT October 2013 which were all removed using the lung laser in Germany and UK.

I really didn't expect to be here three years on from recurrence (my oncologist didn't either) or to feel and look as healthy as I do and I am very grateful.

Thanks to all the CC members who helped me with information and support, some still here and some already passed on but not forgotten

Here's hoping you may live in NEDville for a long time.
Will you continue to take ADAPT? For how long?
And may I ask who was your docter in the UK?

Not Sophy here but can say that her doctor was George Ladas. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=54124&p=431242#p429768
Do a search for "Ladas" or "Rolle" on this forum.
You have some links/ explanations about the procedure in this thread about Laser Assisted Pulmonary Metastasectomy: Laser Assisted Pulmonary Metastasectomy (8 to 100 mets)

About ADAPT protocol, a thread here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=39924

[Edited to correct link to ADAPT thread.]

I read the other day that Dr Rolle retired earlier this year. Bohoo!

However, I am sure that the new head of department (Dr Drewes) will continue Dr Rolle's specific laser technique.

Here are the contact details:

Tel.: +49 3523 65-102
E-Mail: drewes@fachkrankenhaus-coswig.de
E-Mail: richter.antje@fachkrankenhaus-coswig.de.. (executive assistant to Dr Drewes).

Here is the link to their webpage:
http://www.fachkrankenhaus-coswig.de/leistungspektrum/thorax-und-gefaesschirurgie.html
You'll have to run it through a translator though.

Apologies by the way for hijacking your thread. Congratulations on the NED status! Always good to hear encouraging news.
