Help. Ideas for pain

I had a colon resection 1 week ago laproscopically. I am healing well EXCEPT for the awful burning and PAIN from pooping. The pain is so awful it takes my breath away and stings right at the anus. Sorry for being gross but I can't handle it. The dr said to use desitin which when you go 5 times a day. It is not helping. Did anyone experience this and do you have any advice. I am in tears.
