Screw not drinking or smoking! If I'm gonna die I'm gonna die happy. I lived almost all my life unhappy even before cancer! Clinical depression (bpd?) Losing those closest to me, etc. If you disagree, I really don't care, sorry. I stayed alive this long just for everyone else. Not saying I'm giving up, just not ready to give up other things too.
I straight out asked my mom after my brother committed suicide in 2012...I bet you thought it would be me, not him, she said yes. But here I am still.
Now she has to deal with this crap! Seriously! It should have been me, then maybe he wouldn't have and my parents wouldn't have to deal with this! But then again, my daughter and hub. Ugh, not fair no matter how I think of it.

I talked to my Onc about an aspirin regimen as I was finishing chemo. He told me that he would manage that for me. So his prescription is for a small amount - 81mg per day. However, my personal advice is DO NOT SELF-MEDICATE. Get clearance from your Onc or personal Doctor before starting down that road.

Aspirin, vitamin d3, milk thistle and metformin. Adding a regular exercise routine to your lifestyle also helps to keep cancer at bay, as does less red meat consumption and cessation of cigarette smoking.

Yep. I'd also add curcumin and cimetidine to that list.

Unfortunately, most oncs know very little about the research on cancer-fighting herbs and other over-the-counter supplements--one of the reasons why I continue to believe a good naturopathic oncologist can be worth their weight in gold. NDs often get a bad rap but the reputable ones will devise a regimen that complements conventional interventions like surgery/chemo, base their recommendations in sound research and use regular blood testing to measure the impact. Supplements aren't likely to cure your cancer but research suggests the right ones could improve your odds. Frankly, I'll take any help I can get.

My oncologist has suggested 150mg daily dose of Aspirin to start with.

Bob Bones wrote:I have Lynch syndrome and I'm on the CAPP3 (Cancer Prevention Program) Aspirin has been proven to help protect against cancer. The problem being what is the lowest effective dose hence the trial. It's a blind dose of either (mg) 600,300 or 100 once a day for two years then 100 for the next 3 years.

LS patients are selected because we are more likely to get cancer so will be a good control group. It's not just bowel cancer it protects against but most of them.

The trial has been running in the UK for a while now

Hi Bob,
I am also LS and had a real close shave with mCRC. Still not out of woods.
I am also worried about the future as LS increases possibilty of other types of cancers.
What are your suggestions to minimise chances of relapses. Are you taking aspirin .
Thanks.

Update : I have started with 150mg aspirin after my Oncologist's approval.
