DH does no red meat and the chicken and turkey and eggs we buy are organic. He eats salads 3 times a day that include all cruciferous vegetables. He eats tons of blueberries and apples. He exercises 1 hour a day - weight training and runs about 3 miles. He also takes several supplements recommended by the doc at MSK. He has been NED since surgery for stage IV.

Hi - who is the doc at MSK? I'm there too, and would be interested in speaking with someone about what they recommend.

Thanks.

Thanks GT, for the link. Wonderful comment from MSKCC; beautifully simple. I'll quote some of it below, so we all can see without following the link . . .
MSKCC wrote:Now that your cancer treatment is finished, it is a good time to focus on eating healthy foods. There is no evidence that any specific food will prevent your cancer from coming back or other cancers from forming. However, there is strong evidence that achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, following a healthy diet, and staying physically active can help reduce your risk for developing other diseases, including cancer. It will also help you improve your overall health and quality of life and help you feel your best.

His oncologist recommended someone in the integrative medicine area of MSK. We had mentioned wanting to use a naturopath and she said they have that service. I am sorry I don't remember his name because we only met with him once. He prescribed several supplements that have been proven to work through trials so I think it's worth an appt.

Life Extension magazine's piece on colorectal cancer (which seems pretty well-documented) has some good supplement recommendations. The suggested doses are at the end (page 4):

http://www.lifeextension.com/protocols/cancer/colorectal/page-01
11/14 Dx sigmoid CC @ 45yo
12/14 Colectomy + hysterectomy
Stage IIIB, T3N1bM0, 2/20 nodes, MSS, G2, KRAS(A146T), TP53, SMAD4, ERBB2, CEA 1.0
2/15-7/15 XELOX & celecoxib
2/19 clean scope
11/19 clean CT
Ongoing cimetidine & other targeted supplements
Mom to a 6 & 8yo
