Hello everyone,
I feel like every time one problem gets solve, another problem arise. So the story is...
My mom has been on stivarga for about 1 week, and before she was one 1 pill and just yesterday she started on 2 pill. And the main side effect that she has is fatigue..or so I thought. One night I decided to measure her blood pressure because she was just so fatigue and I was shocked. Her bp was so high, 165/105. That's extremely high for her, because her regular bp is under 120/80. She is also on 40mg lisinopril for her bp and usually that would help her bp a lot.
In the morning before she takes her 2 Stivarga pills, her bp would be "normal" @ 130/80. But after 3 ish her bp began to rise. And I think it's part of the cause of her discomfort along with stivarga.
After measuring her bp for 2 days and seeing the increasing pattern, I decided to give her onc nurse a call and left a voicemail, but she never even called back. So I decided to call her once again, and finally the PA called me back and ordered my mom another bp medication called metoprolol @25 mg and advice my mom to take 1 pill a day. For one day it seemed to help bring down the bp a little but today her bp went off the roof again @ 175/110. I decided to call the on call nurse and he told me to give my mom another of that 25mg pill in the evening to help lower it....but nope. It's still high.
Even though my mom says she isn't in pain nor dizzy, no headache...I still worry for her...because this isn't normal. Ever since taking stivarga, My mom has also been having more of that discomfort I talked about in my other thread. But there no pain and her bowel movements are fine. I'm now at a point where I think her discomfort is due to her high bp or its due to her tumor...but if it's her tumor...wouldn't she be in pain? I also talked to Janie who is also on stivarga, and she also said she had high bp for first few weeks. Since we can't see the onc till Wednesday, has anyone ever been in this position or have any advice on naturally lowering the bp? Any story or advice will be appreciated
Thank you
