looking for people that have taken erbitux- hair question

Postby rmblack » Fri Sep 30, 2016 9:14 pm

I took my last erbitux treatment in June. My eyebrows and eyelashes grew crazy! My eyelashes curled and turned inward and really get in my way. They still haven't gone back to normal and I'm wondering if they ever will. Has anybody else experienced this and if so did it go away?

I was on Cetuximab/Erbitux 2/23-3/29, stopped couldn't handle rash. In high school there was a fad going around and we all shaved half of our eyebrows off from the middle to temple, problem was mine never grew back and that was 50 years ago until Erbitux! Yes eyebrows and eyelashes grew like crazy and 6 months later I still have more then I started with but not as much, I'd say just the right amount. On Folfuri and Avastin now so things could change, hopefully not.
Best wishes to you...

Hi Rhonda,

Yes, my mother had the same effect when she took Vectibix (which is the same as Erbitux). her eyelashes were several centimetres long! And her eyebrows grew a lot too. She trimmed the eyelashes as they were annoying her after a bit. Eventually they both returned the same as before- she actually misses the thick brows now.

Good luck, Veronica

I grew a ...mustache!! It was awful, I didnt notice it in the dim light of my home bathroom but we were staying in a hotel one night before treatment and I saw it...plain as day! Ask my husband if he noticed it...oh yeah, didn't want to make me feel bad!
I started shaving! Was back to normal shortly after I stopped that drug. I call it pandemonium - that stuff is hard!

Thanks for the responses! I feel like a werewolf! I am hoping it soon goes back to normal. I was just scared this might be permanent since it's been almost 5 months. The rash was AWFUL!!!!!!! I'm so glad to be done with this drug. Hopefully I won't have to do it again but I was told if I had another reoccurrence I more than likely would.
