BeansMama, did they give you an Rx for Magic Mouthwash for your mouth sores? I also know of several people (including me) who used kefir for mouth sores. Kefir is a fermented milk product similar to yogurt, only like a yogurt shake! Brands include Greek Gods, Helios, Lifeway, and others. It's available in health food stores, but it's also stocked in many ordinary grocery stores. To prevent/heal mouth sores, you sip some and then hold it in your mouth for a few minutes, letting it coat the entire mouth area. Then swallow it. It worked for me and others. Worth a try!

I do not have the magic mouthwash as far as I know, the only thing that was prescribed to me was a nystatin swish and swallow for thrush (that stuff is gross!).
I have seen people recommend the magic mouthwash but honestly I'm not quite sure what it is or what to ask my oncologist for...
I do try to eat yogurt every day to help, I have never tried kefir. I have issues with consistency and texture so I have been wary of trying it.

My Onc gave me a prescription for Magic Mouthwash and I took it to the pharmacy and my insurance wouldn't cover it because it contains over the counter medications and they said I needed a separate prescription for each drug and then I could find the formula on line to make it myself.
Just in case you can't get your prescription filled... Last month's dentist appointment I was telling her how dry my mouth is and she gave me a few $2.50 off coupons for Biotene and suggested trying it. Bought the toothpaste and the dry mouthwash and a spray for my purse. Working great, helps with dry mouth and the 2 sores I had are now gone.
I used to make my own kefir but I made water kefir because I'm lactose intolerant, not sure if it works like milk kefir but it is available at the grocery store. JulieJ do you know if this would work, would be a lot cheaper then Biotene plus better for me/us?
Hugs and prayers... ox
