Just want to share my experience attending a colon cancer awareness 5k yesterday. I attended with my husband and our 1 year old (In a stroller). There were about 140 participants, but this was only the 2nd year at this location, so I expect that the number will grow each year. We had the opportunity to meet 2012 colander model Staci, who graciously shared her inspiring story with the crowd, and I got to chat with her a bit before the race. If you are thinking of attending an event but are not a runner, don't let that stop you. The atmosphere was very casual and most people walked and talked, some even stopping to take advantage of the yard sales! The humidity was excruciating, but we are happy to have done a little to raise awareness for colon cancer!
