September Scans?

Postby dianetavegia » Tue Sep 06, 2016 3:46 pm

If you have scans this month, let us know so we can pray, send good thoughts, etc.

My bloodwork is Thursday 22nd and my CT/ MRI are Thursday Sept. 29th. I'll get the results from the hospital as soon as the radiologist submits them and then can have my onc friend in Australia read them for me. I won't see my onc until Friday Oct. 7th.
Oct. 10th is our 46th Wedding Anniversary, so hoping for good reports.

I know a few others had scans in April with me but don't remember them all and some may have moved on to yearly scans.

I scan this Thursday. It's one of the very few times I have been scared to do it/get results because my oncologist ordered it as he fears my chemo may no longer be working. I would love prayers and/or good thoughts and putting you both down in my prayer journal now. Here's to hoping for good news for all. (Imagine the sound of our wine glasses dinging as we virtually toast)

My wife's latest CT scan was last Friday. She met with her oncologist today. He says overall stable - No significant changes in the abdomen mets and the met pressing against her ureter between her Kidney to her bladder is about the same as well. No changes in Lungs, Liver or Spleen. So not the results we would have liked to hear, but not any worse from the last CT either. The combination of Irrinotecan, Erbitux and probably Avastin (Its a trial so the last could be placebo but we doubt it as she has been on it a long time previously) seems to be holding things in check. The worse side effect is fatigue and pain from the Stent she has in the Ureter to keep the tumor from pinching it closed. It causes some pain when she sits too long or if she is particularly active. We have done a lot of walking the last couple of days running dogs in preparation of up coming field trials she is trying to get the older dogs ready for, and puppies so they start to learn what this bird finding game is all about! As a result today she is very sore there. Sometime in October perhaps she will likely have to have the stent swapped out again. They like to do this every three to 4 months. We were hoping to not have to have it replaced. Now it doesn't look like it we can do without it.

Regards,

Happy Sunday night to all. I have been with you on this board sometime around June 6th. Stomach cramps brought me to the ER and before I left 2 days later I was confirmed colon cancer stage 4b, inoperable, 16 months to live. I obtained my second opinion before I started on the full folfox 5fu, plus all the popular add-ons. I have trouble with side effects, but I want to live really really badly and will put up with whatever I physically can to do so.

So, I would like to join the September scan group, mine is tomorrow. Other tests, which are inconclusive according to my onc show my CEA and my C19-119 dropping down big time. I am still learning the fucking colon cancer lingo and will probably walk out of my onc meeting as dumb as I am now.

I would guess sometime this week I can quote some numbers and ask for advice from anyone who would be interested.

I am looking forward to lots of scans looking better.

Good luck to everyone, caregivers included!

Scanning tomorrow.

Just took a one week postponement so i could attend wedding. Trmt before that was the oxali desensitization in the hosp. So i didnt get a full trmt, including no avastin. Before that it was the trmt where i had the reaction, prompting the desensitization. Before that was only a partial dose of folfox due to fatigue. Before that was a break because of the jaundice.

Long story short, its been forever since ive had a normal full treatment. Im expecting tomorrows scan to show significant growth. Will i even be a candidate for chemo?

I would think to be feeling better with all these skipped or shortened treatments. But I'm still way too fatigued. Muscles getting weaker.

So, would appreciate any extra well wishes for wise decisions to be sent this way. Thanks!
