The appointment went very well!! He wants to treat this very aggressively, he is going to follow through with the stump issue too! I get to see a GI that will scope me again but will use a scope that not only has a camera but ultrasound as well so they can get a better picture of what is going on in there.

Got some awesome news, he said it looks like the small tumor in my liver is "dead". It shows up as calcified on the last CT scan I had and it did not light up in the last PET scan.

The big tumor is another story. It stopped shrinking. It is half the size it was originally which is good but the Folfox was just keeping it stable. I will be switched to folfiri with vectibix starting next week.

I am feeling very positive about this and I think this was the right move for us.

Anyone have any info on folfiri and vectibix? I like to be prepared for what may happen. I know he did say I was basically guaranteed to get the rash that goes along with it but they will be able to manage it.

Thanks midlifemom, we didn't move for the second opinion. My husband got a promotion and a transfer, by sheer luck and the grace of God I found what seems to be a great doctor that will be aggressive in treatment as I have wanted from the beginning.

I remember about the job - know you didnt move for new opinion.
It just seems to be working out so well for you with the new doc, its as if that was the primary purpose of the move. I hope it goes as well for DH.

It does seem to be working out awfully well for the most part - we decided to rent a house for a bit before we buy or build so we can get a feel for the different areas, who knew the houses would go so fast! We finally got one but I was stressing it. We applied for one that had only been listed for 6 hours and were 13th on the list! It was crazy! A big part of it are the schools, there aren't many good districts here. There are a few specific towns that everyone wants to live in.

The new job is going really well, his associates seem to like him so that is good. He is struggling a little with balancing the demands of running his building and home, I keep telling him not to worry about us right now, get everything set and it will even out. He stresses about being here enough for me and the what if something happens. I keep telling him I am perfectly capable of dealing with anything that might happen.

I am hoping in time he relaxes some. When I was in Texas I had a group of friends helping then my mom came out to stay with me, she went home and now it is just me and the kiddo. I know he worries because I fall a lot. I keep telling him I am ok, I bounce, but he doesn't believe me

Anyone have any info on folfiri and vectibix?

I started chemo today and am sitting here with Folfuri dripping so too soon to know side effects. Previously I had Erbitux with Folfox, the worst rash I've ever had, face, neck, head and chest. It was horrible, was on antibiotics and prescription cream. They say the worst the rash the better it's working. Had to get off of it tho, couldn't sleep at night due to the itching and burning. Not sure if the vectibix is the same except that you say you'll get a rash.
Good luck and prayers and hugs..

Thanks Pita,

The onc said a rash is guaranteed because the vectibix binds to the epidermal growth factor receptors. He said it was more of a pimply rash - I got a mild one from my Folfox so I am kind of used to it, I'm just hoping it isn't too bad. I don't want to look like I am going through puberty all over again!!! Although reading the informational paperwork his nurse gave me it could include redness, itching, and a standard rash. I'm hoping I can get through it and that it works on my tumors. I was bummed when they had to stop the Avastin after two rounds because my scars were opening up. I want to throw everything at this disease that we can.

I'm sorry you are having such a rough time with your chemo. I hope the Folfiri works out better for you. I am keeping you in my prayers.

Thank you! Yes he is stressed big time, but trying to get him to slow down and relax some is like talking to a brick wall. He gets focused and forget it, he will finish what he wants to get done and it will be done in his time line. He's a bit type A but I love him.

I hope you are doing well! Praying for you every day. Hugs to you, thank you for all your support.
