Hemorrhoids Anyone?

Postby Newmol » Wed Aug 03, 2016 8:50 am

I am 8 weeks post-op after a right hemicolectomy. I have been doing quite well with the exception of a uti at 3 weeks post-op and different bowel habits. After an initial episode of constipation, I had been having very loose stools. I started eating marshmallows things seemed to be better. The other night I had an explosive episode of loose bowels that made me feel as if I had irritation around the anus. When I showered I discovered what I am certain are hemorrhoids. I knew I had internal ones that were discovered during a colonoscopy but these are protruding. Has anyone had this happen so suddenly? What do I do now? The thought of a doctor doing anything else to me right now causes anxiety.

Can these go away on their own? I am using an over the counter cream but wondered if any of you have advice.
Routine colonoscopy 4/19/16 tubulovilois adenoma partially removed piecemeal - high grade dysplasia
Follow-up colonoscop 5/11/16 partial removal of remnants - suspicion of intra mucosal carcinoma
Right Hemicolectomy 6/7/16 margins and 39 lymph nodes - negative

I believe so. Yes try the over the counter stuff for while, hopefully that will help. Good luck with them.

Preparation H Cooling Gel works according to our pharmacist and my DH.
Thats just to get rid of existing ones. Try Squatty Potty to prevent new ones if youre prone to them.

Omg yes. And radiation blew them up big time. The best thing for pain and burning for me is Calmoseptine. For itching I have a lidocaine/hydrocortizone cream.

I have hemorrhoids, both internal and external, but they no longer bother me. I stumbled across a simple way to handle them that works for me. For a while I used a Preparation H type cream, which worked, but I found a better way, which is to be especially careful not to irritate them when wiping after a bowel movement. (I have quite a few of those every day, because my rectum got smaller due to surgery for rectal cancer.)

Here's the secret. I keep a small bowl of water available to moisten toilet tissues with, before I use them to wipe. That reduces friction and potential irritation to a great extent.

Maybe that has worked only because I had only a mild case of hemorrhoids -- who knows whether it would help anyone else? But it's worked for me for a decade, now. It might be worth a try, for you.

I've noticed that I have a few small external ones that are not painful. I'm not sure how to know if I have them inside?
Had my LAR surgery July 19 and today I have an appointment with my cr surgeon so I will ask him about them and how to treat.

My CR surgeon said mine are not big enough to worry about, they will go away by themselves and I don't have any inside.
No advice, he said each person is different and each CRS has different methods.

What a pain in the azz.
A hot bath with Epsom salt works wonders.
Tucks or other wipes with witch hazel helps.
You can also get a prescription For cortisone suppositories and cream.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Thankfully they are too bothersome most of the time. I just hope they will shrink back down soon.
