New type of Immunotherapy treatment for CRC

Postby joe7777777 » Sun Jul 31, 2016 7:43 am

Treating CRC tumors with radiation first may release more antigens making Cancer Immunotherapy treatments eg. PD1 or other types of checkpoint inhibitors

more effective. It also may mean more subtypes of CRC will be able to be treated with immunotherapy.

Perhaps any kind of treatment that causes more antigens to appear on the cancer cells surface may help

Using combinations of checkpoint inhibitors like LAG3 and TIM-3 could make treatments even more effective

I do not have the updated data presented at ASCO (so the data may have improved with additional analysis!) but here is a related abstract with the very first preliminary clinical data from ASCO-2016. pMMR is another way of MSS (yes scientists are abnormally annoying when it comes to MSS/MSI abbreviation use) http://meetinglibrary.asco.org/content/165605-176

Something worth printing out this abstract, trying to find out the final presented data, and asking your MD to discuss if you are considering this strategy - and if anyone does this please report back to Colon talk what the MD says so that we can all learn!
