What do you mean I have the bleeding and clots reversed, Nik Colon?

:?:
Husband Ron diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on 3/15/16, right after first colonoscopy at age 68. Had surgery to remove tumor on 3/31/16. Many mets on top and bottom of liver that are not resectable. Started chemo 4/28/16 using Fluorouracil (5-FU) and Irinotecan. Started Erbitux 5/26 on third chemo. Had very good results on 7/14 CT scan!! Treated with Avastin and Capecitabine 8/4/16. CT on 10/18 showed cancer growth. Now on FOLFOX. Placed in Hospice in early December and passed away 12/29/16.

From what I know/read. The meds and bleeding or clots seem to be opposite from the one you mentioned causing them. Afaik, the Xeloda could cause clots and the Avastin the bleeding.
But, I could be wrong

WOW! You are on a VERY high dose and you haven't had a lot of debilitating side effects. Ron will be on 1,000 mg per day. Good for you!

PRAYING Ron does well with this drug too!! Thanks for your input!

Hello I just wanted to mention that Xeloda or capacetabine is calculated by body mass I'm 6'2" and 240lbs so I take 2500 mg twice a day for 5000 mg total per day when I took it with radiation it was less 4000 mg per day but this time it started at 6000 mg a day but I had horrible neuropathy in my feet and hands so my oncologist knocked it down to 5000 mg and as I said in my last text I've had very little side effects my main thoughts as far as your husband Ron goes is why he's only taking 1000 mg a day that's so low a dose as it goes by body size it just strikes me as odd maybe question oncologist as to how he comes up with that dosage
Hope this helps
Mike

I made an error when I posted that the dose would only be 1,000 mg per day. He is on FOUR 500 mg pills per day so that is 2,000 mg. His weight has dropped to 165, so that is likely why he is on a lower dose.

Thanks much everyone for your input and concern. I appreciate it much more than you will ever know!

I am new here, sadly, and just read your story and few other comments. I am sorry you are going through this, but am very happy for you both that he is doing so well! The power of prayers work ! Will pray for you both, and everyone else going through their illness as well.
