anyone every use suprep

Postby helen098 » Sun Jul 10, 2016 5:09 pm

i have my 7th colonoscopy on wenesday
when i started you were able to use the phfosopsoda over the counter less than $ 4 a bottle
i have done the gallons and the pills
I prefer the pills but they are no longer covered by my insurance
someone at work used the suprep a few weeks ago and said it was very good only 2 six oz bottles with a split prep
my doc said its fine even though he hasn't used it before, the only problem is his anesthesiologist wants you to have nothing to drink 6 hours before the test
so for a 10:30 am test i need to get up at 4am for the second dose
the colon doc is pushing the miralax prep. with the lapband i don't think i can drink all the liquids that fast

it's still kind of expensive the max co pay $60 but i did find a $10 coupon on line so i only paid $50

Haven't tried Superprep.

Last colonoscopy I did the gatorade/Miralax prep. The ingredients are reasonably priced, and although not especially delicious,
I didn't really struggle getting through the entire amount.
From now on, this will be the only prep that I use. Here's a link about the process if you're interested.

I too found gatorade/miralax to work best for me. A few yrs following my surgery and I was prepping for a scope, could not keep the prep solution down. Called surgeon, she asked about the color of my output. Told her and she said I was clean. Stop prepping Learned that, I don't always have to take the full solution amount. Many time, the 1st bottle does it all. The day before I prep, I do tend to eat soft easy digestible foods.

Talk to your Dr. With your lapband you may not need the full 2 bottles either. good luck,

I used Suprep for my last colonoscopy. The taste is gross, like many other preps. I wasn't able to get through the second dose. I was still adequately cleaned out though. I found if you added more water to the prep liquid it was a little more tolerable. You also have to drink (2) 16 Oz bottles of water after you drink the 16 Oz prep. I had a hard time consuming all of that liquid within an hour. I alternated drinking the first bottle of water and chugging the prep. I also used a straw, that helps me get it down. Make sure it is cold! It really does help.

It worked quickly and there wasn't much cramping. I have a colostomy so I had issues with the amount and speed of it working. I wasn't prepared for the explosion and there was quite a mess...

I will never use anything other than the Gatorade / miralax prep from now on.

I had Suprep before my colonoscopy, and I had Miralax/Gatoraide before my colon surgery. I could tolerate neither very well. The Miralax/Gatoraide combo was at least cheaper, but both tasted very nasty. I could not finish either of them, but apparently I got enough down that the job was done sufficiently.

I've done suprep twice and I thought it was pretty easy and not foul tasting. It tastes like cherry cough syrup, but it's not much and I could just chug it in one sitting. Then I had a spoonful of lemon sorbet just to get that cherry taste out of my mouth. It works really fast for me. I know others mentioned Gatorade, but I can't stomach that salty taste, so I couldn't do that one.

I've had about that many colonoscopies in the past two years and have used Suprep twice. The first time it made me nauseous. The second time (the night before my colon resection) I got the first bottle down then projectile vomited (sorry) everywhere. Could've been my nerves but I don't use that one ever anymore.

I tolerate Prepopik pretty well. Although it's all gross.

Had the best experience this last time in March. I totally credit COCONUT WATER to my feeling so well. I used it for my fasting liquid the entire day before and also drank that during my prep. I think coconut water is an acquired taste that I've not yet acquired BUT I felt GREAT the morning of. I'm usually a cranky mess-hungry-irritated-annoyed and I was none of that. The only difference was the coconut water.

Thanks for all the reply
I will post my review tomorrow after my 2 doses

What I don't understand is with all of our technology
Why can't there be a tolerable inexpensive prep
I miss the phosphors it was cheep effective and fast
I little too effective but it's much better than having to do the prep again
We must work on this

I think I will pick up some cocconut water on the way home

I never tried it as I read it can casus diarrhea
And as you all know I have a unexpected pooping in my pants problem

Shouldn't be a problem tonight as that is my goal

We started keeping coconut water in the house when my 16yo had kidney stones. Dr at the hospital said its nature's gatorade....someone else told me its "better than water" if you can believe that. Drink it cold. My daughter loves the stuff now. Drinks it every day. I buy it at Costco/cheaper.

After my not so nice episode with Suprep the night before my resection, dr told me to take 3 dulcolax pills followed by a fleet enima at bedtime and another enima in the morning. She said I was good.

Good luck.

It's the only thing I've used and it worked well. Easy to drink , not bad tasting. But I don't have anything else to compare it too. Good luck.
