Four years, eight months

Postby cecioboe » Mon Jun 27, 2016 12:47 pm

Yup, that's how long Jim had his Bard power port and it served him very well. It always worked perfectly, gave blood, took in the chemo, steroids, anti-nausea meds, TPN, and whatever the hell else they shoved in there.

Today, his wonderful interventional radiologist removed it. It came out pretty easily and Jim is just fine. They didn't even put him under; just a little local and zip, gone!

Next scan/colonoscopy is in 7-8ish months, so if I don't check in before, you'll know we are out living our lives.

As always, we are sending best wishes, prayers, good juju and swinging those chickens for you. Keep on keeping on,

Ceci and Jim

Thank you for checking in again, and thank you for sharing Jim's success story four years ago, and for being an advocate for timely colonoscopy screenings.

A HUGE congrats. PRAYING the same thing happens to my hubby Ron!!

:D
Husband Ron diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on 3/15/16, right after first colonoscopy at age 68. Had surgery to remove tumor on 3/31/16. Many mets on top and bottom of liver that are not resectable. Started chemo 4/28/16 using Fluorouracil (5-FU) and Irinotecan. Started Erbitux 5/26 on third chemo. Had very good results on 7/14 CT scan!! Treated with Avastin and Capecitabine 8/4/16. CT on 10/18 showed cancer growth. Now on FOLFOX. Placed in Hospice in early December and passed away 12/29/16.
