Does skin cancer raise cea?

Postby Ratepo » Sun Jun 26, 2016 1:48 pm

Perhaps somebody here knows it...my dad has got his blood tested for cea. However he also had skin cancer which is removed just now after his blood was tested. We'll get the cea results next week. Is it possible that the skin cancer effects the cea level?

Hi Ratepo. I believe CEA rises is related only to colon/gastro-intestinal malignancies. What does your father's onc think?

I think that is a very important question to ask his Onc. From what I understand, CEA is picking up a protein from cancer cells, this may just apply to colon cancer and not skin cancer. Butt do ask his Onc.

All the best,
