My NED Days appear over

Postby wwroam » Wed Apr 27, 2016 10:17 pm

Well it was a good run. Almost 9 years.
Yesterday I had a colonoscopy which wasn't very good. Apart from some lymph nodes there are 2 lymphomas in the colon.
Not rare but not that common. I can't say that I have ever seen any posts with lymphomas in the colon on the forum. I've scheduled an appointment with my Oncologist for Friday next week ( after the path results are in.)
In the meantime it's time for another fight.

Aww... sorry your news wasn't so good.

I was diagnosed with cecum cancer and follicular lymphomas. Two separate cancers at the same time. I didn't have lymphoma in the colon. But some of the twenty lypmh nodes removed in my colon surgery tested positive for follicular lymphoma. The lypmh nodes didn't have colon cancer in them.

I am still stymied with what it all means.. I don't feel sick except for GERD..

I wish you the best.. hang in there..
Prayers.

From what I have read treatment most likely will be resection and radiation. The prognosis is good.
The complication is that my partner has Stage IV mCRC ( unresectable) and I'm the "caregiver", which is almost obscene but them's the breaks.

I sure didn't want to hear that from you. It's good that the prognosis is good. Still didn't want to hear that after 9 years. I hope it's a few radiations & then you are done.
Them's the breaks? I'm beginning to wonder if there are any breaks. I hope you get one tho.

Sorry to hear that Wayne I hope every thing is treatable. I think that feeling of waiting for the hammer to drop never entirely goes away. I have to have a liver ultrasound next week. I have been quite unwell and now the readings on my liver function tests have doubled in five weeks. It is either auto immune hepatitis or my old nemesis back after over 18 years. I will take hep but I will dread that is the other till I find out , Hugs to you and your wife, Ron.

Hello, Wayne.

That's some sickening news you got. I'm really sorry. You may remember my husband was diagnosed with really aggressive lymphoma in 2012. He had some trouble beating it but is now cancer-free after a stem cell transplant. if yours is limited to your colon, I think you will find it pretty easy to treat. Still sucks, butt better than CRC. I'll be thinking about you, and your S/O.

Hugs to you,

Bev

No news for me yet. I've stopped googling "lymphoma in the colon". Until I see the path results it's all wild speculation.
Chrissie started her 27th cycle of chemo yesterday. We had an interesting meeting with our Oncologist today . Her CEA has come down a little and her LDH is completely stable.
He's softening her up for Irinotecan and Erbitux but I think he may stick with the Oxi/Avastin a bit longer. It still seems to be working.
The Oncology nurse was very good. She's from an agency and highly experienced ( and her brother is an Oncologist). I learnt quite a lot from her, particularly lymphomas. They are now finding lymphomas cropping up in patients who were treated 10-20 years ago. Breast cancer seems to be very prone.

G'day Wayne,
I had my liver ultrasound today. I don't think it was too good . He kept asking me if I was sure I had my gallbladder removed. After he had finished with my liver ,which was all he was asked to do, he then took some time scanning my pancreas and my kidneys. He said nothing but as I was leaving he was on the phone with my report in his hand. I sincerely hope he was just trying to scare the crap out of me, it worked, Ron. I hope you hear something soon and I hope the chemo keeps helping Chrissie, all the best Ron.

Well I got the histology from my GP and I'm looking for a bum to kick. Or at least a gastroenteroligist who proofreads his Procedure Report. Or a typist who switches off spell-check.
I had 2 lipomas . Not lymphomas.
There will be a small celebration in the household this evening. I'm still NED.

You certainly went through the ordeal of fire and ice Ron. I hope that it all turns out OK.
Is Steve still on the warpath Bev. That CHOP chemo looks like a nasty piece of work.
