Turns out I had a kidney infection.
Sunday evening I took my temperature: 102.4. So my husband and I went to the ER, a new experience for both of us. To their credit, they did 'fast track' us when I told them I was in chemo.
They did it all - urine sample, blood sample, ultra sound, CT scan. No stones - yay. But because my white count was a bit elevated, and because of the fever and my 'situation,' they wanted to keep me overnight. Ended up staying two nights because my fever kept coming back when the Tylenol would wear off. Thankfully yesterday the temps kept trending downward without any Tylenol and the internist on my case agreed that I was safe to be discharged. I'm now on Cipro for 14 days and my 3rd infusion (which was originally going to be today) will probably be next week at some point.
I'm to have labs done next Tuesday and meet with my oncologist the following day.
In all honesty, I should've taken my temperature Friday night, but no - I figured I'd be fine if I just kept drinking water, Gatorade, and got some rest. Wrong. Next time (hopefully there won't be a 'next time,' but you know what I mean), I'll know better.
So I'm no longer an ER virgin. I have now seen all facets of my hospital. Not proud of that, but there it is. {sigh} I miss the old days when the only doc I saw was the gyno for checkups.
