Wart or mole protruding from stoma

Postby Scaredsless » Wed Apr 13, 2016 6:24 pm

This can't be good. I have an appointment with dermatologist but they can't see me until May, is this normal. I call my oncologist about it they said I needed to see a dermatologist. I call my surgeon but they haven't got back to me. It's only about a quarter inch long and not very big around but very disturbing.

Are you sure it's a wart or a mole? If your surgeon can see you sooner, he could rule out a recurrence.

Is there a WOC nurse you could contact? When we were having a question about my husband's stoma, we were able to text one a picture & she was able to help us.

I agree there. I have sent a pic of a "cut" stoma. She said there's nothing to do about it. I think it's fine now but send a pic to wound nurse or make! the surgeon see you.

I had a skin met in the groin. It was small and sort of looked like an infected hair follicle. My Onc did not recognize it and even the dermatologist could not say what it was by visual inspection. I had it biopsied and it came back as a met. In my case I did not use a Mohs dermatologist and that resulted in a much more prolonged process because when the dermatologist did the biopsy it turns out they did not get clear margins. I then had to have out patient surgery to remove more tissue to get clear margins. The Mohs dermatologist takes a biopsy has it analyzed while you wait and if the the margin is not clear they continue to remove tissue and biopsy until they get clear margins. Not saying you have a met but I would call a Mohs trained dermatologist and tell them you are concerned it could be a met and don't want to wait long to have it checked.

Hope it's nothing.

Could it be a granuloma? A granuloma is a benign growth that is taken off easily with silver nitrate. My colon rectal surgeon took care of mine. Try giving your surgeon a call. Hope it is this.

It's just my opinion, but I would not let anyone touch my stoma but my colorectal surgeon. I would have him/her evaluate it.
