Neupogen Back-To-Back Days

Postby meatie » Wed Apr 13, 2016 4:46 pm

My mom is getting a single neupogen shot on 3 consecutive days right after 5fu pump removal, instead of 3 shots spread out over the "bye week". Anyone had similar experiences?

My original post was poorly worded. Let me clear it up.

My mother had a single neupogen shot each day for three consecutive days two weeks ago. The first one was given right after the 5fu pump was removed on wednesday (march 30th) . Then one on both the thursday (march 31th) and friday (april 1) of the same week. Then nine days passed, and on monday this week (april 11th), her neutriphil was too low, and was given a neupogen shot the same day, and infusion was pushed back to april 13. We returned today (april 13), her neutrophil level was okay, and got the infusion done.

Why was the neupogen shots given on 3-30, 3-31, and 4-1, instead of let's say 4-4, 4-6, 4-8?

Yes...near the end of my chemo treatments I had to recieve neupogen shots for three days in a roll. I believe I had this done four times.....to kick my WBC back up...though I never had to miss a treatment.

I had only one neupogen shot during each FOLFOX cycle and it was the day before my next infusion. Never had low neutrophils again after they started doing that. I would ask why they are not giving the shots closer to her next injection. It is my understanding that with Neulasta they give it after the infusion, not right before the next one, but I could be mistaken on that. Lois

I needed 22 neupogen shots to complete 8 rounds of Folfox. They were given consecutively 24 hours after treatment for 4 or 5 days. I was a hot mess during chemo, but lived to tell the tale:)

I was a 14 day cycle of FOLFOX and received three doses on days 11, 12 and 13. I would stop the day before treatment began. I went from being is a state of neutropenia to consistently having high neutrophil counts. The stuff was very effective for me.
