CT & MRI

Postby Scaredoutofmind » Fri Apr 01, 2016 4:41 pm

DH has CT with contrast & MRI scans scheduled for Tuesday. Doc office called today to say insurance would not approve MRI only CT scans.

Doc felt this was ok to provide a baseline and push for MRI if need be.

Is having a CT alone ok? What is difference?

It's my understanding that MRI can look at soft tissue a little better. But I'm pretty sure contrast CTs can find enlarged lympnodes, Lung things and liver lesions.

I'm getting twice a year MRIs and annual CTs. Just had an MRI last week. Mine get approved due to the amount of radiation I've endured since I was treated with chemo/rad due to my rectal cancer diagnosis.
