Neuropathy

Postby JDinNC » Sat Mar 26, 2016 7:38 pm

For those of you experiencing neuropathy....I would say about six month ago. I notice that when I drop my head to my chest I experience a "shock". I feel it in my right butt cheek, knee and foot...has anyone experience anything similar? Not sure if this is connected with my neuropathy.

I used to get that while I was in active treatment but haven't experienced it since. Of course, my spine is messed up from my neck to my arse and I always have pain but not those electrical shocks anymore when looking down.

I have been dealing with worsening neuropathy for about a year, and recently have noted similar increase in "shock" like sensations in my hands when my neck is bent forward. I also have a history of psoriatic arthritis of the spine, so I wonder if that is exacerbating the pain of the neuropathy?

I see my rheumatologist next week, and I suspect she will suggest an MRI (who doesn't love even more scans?). I do know the sensation is blunted when I take Ativan or gabapentin or use MMJ

I noticed something very similar a few weeks after my neuropathy really kicked in, which was after round 6 of 8 of FOLFOX. When I'd tilt my head forward, I'd feel a twinge that would travel down into my fingers and feet. It was a weird feeling but not painful. I was happy that sensation went away after a few weeks. Too bad my neuropathy doesn't seem like it's gotten any better yet but I'm still hopeful it will in time.

It sounds like a sciatic nerve issue. The pain associated with damage to this nerve can shoot down from one side of the neck through the leg and feel like an electric shock. Interesting of the chemo is causing such a side effect.

As to neuropathy, I had it very bad in my hands and forearms and feet up to my knees. Over time and with walking and movement, but being careful not to over do it, it subsided. I have it on the bottoms of my feet and tips of my fingers now, about ten years past chemo.

Hi. Several people here have remarked about these symptoms here over the years. It sounds like you may have l'hermitte's syndrome. Here's the WIKI link for this condition. I hope you feel better soon.
