2016 Colondar Out - My Story (DK37) + 11 Other INSPIRATIONAL CRC THRIVERS

Postby DK37 » Tue Mar 01, 2016 8:58 am

The 2016 Colondar 2.0 was released today! It is a BEAUTIFUL coffee table quality magazine profiling the INSPIRATIONAL stories of (12) colorectal cancer THRIVERS as well as meant to educate that CRC is not an “old man’s disease”. I LOVE this page from my section of the Colondar. Note the caption they chose to use for me, I think they captured my mindset and philosophy perfectly. :)

“Incurable… For now… The lung spots are still there today, but they are no longer growing and Tom continues to live life as a stage IV colon cancer survivor. Tom knows that the chemotherapy he is undergoing will not cure him of stage IV cancer – it is only managing the disease. Controlling it. Buying him time. And in Tom’s mind, that’s all he needs – time.”

Meeting the other models and staff changed my view of life – I believe the same will be true for you! My short blog post on the Colondar & what it means to both me & I believe others is at the link below

The Colondar 2.0 can now be ordered either at The Colon Club website https://colonclub.com/store/ or if you want a personalized copy PM me! It is only $10 and all proceeds support The Colon Club. I’ll be contacting everyone who previously ordered a personalized copy!

Thank you to the staff for putting this huge project together and giving me the experience of a lifetime! Troy, Mark, Ray, Alayne, Deb, Krista, Trish, Suzie, Chris, Angie, Leigh, the writer of my section Doug and especially Lindsey. The other (11) models you know how special you are :)

I just read ALL of the stories of the VERY courageous cancer survivors listed!!

I am BEYOND impressed!!!!!!

A lot of the stories brought tears to my eyes. Most of the people are SO young! It sure made me realize I should NEVER take ONE day or my health for granted again, EVER!!!!

Husband Ron diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer on 3/15/16, right after first colonoscopy at age 68. Had surgery to remove tumor on 3/31/16. Many mets on top and bottom of liver that are not resectable. Started chemo 4/28/16 using Fluorouracil (5-FU) and Irinotecan. Started Erbitux 5/26 on third chemo. Had very good results on 7/14 CT scan!! Treated with Avastin and Capecitabine 8/4/16. CT on 10/18 showed cancer growth. Now on FOLFOX. Placed in Hospice in early December and passed away 12/29/16.
