RIP Lindsey Motley, Miss March 2015 in the Colondar 2.0

Postby Staci's team » Wed Feb 24, 2016 12:47 pm

I'm saddened to have to report that The Colon Club has lost another of its Colondar models to this @#^%@$%^ disease. Lindsey Motley, Miss March 2015 in the Colondar 2.0, joined the angels yesterday afternoon, February 23, after having just turned 29 earlier this month. She leaves behind her husband, Jay, and beautiful 2 year old daughter, Lilla, as well as a host of family and friends who loved her, along with thousands of people who followed her story and supported her without ever having met her.

Image

I met Lindsey at the 2015 Colondar shoot and was honored to be able to write her story for the Colondar and for the CC website. One of my favorite memories of her will always be sitting upstairs as others were getting makeup and hair done and just having a conversation....that ultimately became the foundation for her bio. Believe me when I say that she is, without a doubt, the most gracious person I have ever met. I've been lucky to have shared cards, calls, notes and texts with her in the two and a half years I've known her, and I have never once heard her say anything negative -- about anyone, or anything, or most of all the fact that she had to be a cancer survivor in addition to her roles as wife, mother, daughter, and friend. Grace personified. The accolades and memories flooding social media confirm that my assessment is correct.

I'm sure many of you have seen the tributes on social media for her, but I wanted to provide links to some of the stories.

Today's story from the Greenville (SC) News

Rest easy, sweet girl...we will miss you immensely, but we will continue this fight in your name. I promise that when the time is right, we will welcome Lilla into the world of "colorectal kids" with the open arms and unconditional love that you demonstrated so freely, and that she will always have a huge set of proud "aunts" and "uncles" watching over her.

Very sad to hear, and thoughts are mostly with her family especially her husband and beautiful little girl. So very unfortunate, but hope they can celebrate her life endlessly. RIP.

So glad you and she were able to see each other during your MD Anderson trips. I HATE that your group has had two of its members leave us so soon.

I feel as though I need to respond to this, but am struggling to find the words. I've followed Lindsey's story for more than a year now through her caring bridge site. Although we never met or corresponded, I always felt a connection to her because she was diagnosed while pregnant. My own diagnosis came shortly after giving birth to baby #2. Like so many others, I wanted desperately for her to win this fight and it saddens me terribly that she did not. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and especially her beautiful little girl.

Thanks, all. Lindsey posted here from time to time but spent a LOT more time connecting with people affected by CRC off of the board -- she'd "meet" them here and then extend the conversation to texts, phone calls, and notes. She was a very special lady to so many people and she will be greatly missed.
