As for your question. I am as of Oct this year a 14 year survivor. I find my history interesting to this question. My father was DX'd and then lived for 5 years. My brother was DX'd and lived only 3 years. I did not expect to live for more than 5 years because of the history....BUT...here I am after the exact DX as my brother and father. In the same place "very near the sphincter muscle."
AS for worrying about getting it again...I don't...I just don't. I am 71 years old so if I worry about getting it again I will waste time doing something I have no power over. My faith helps me more than anything. In fact after my first surgery my surgeon told me he was moving to Nebraska and I told him he couldn't. He then looked at me like I was crazy I told him he was going to watch me die of old age and it would be in my 80's.... when that happens.

Call me crazy if you want....it wouldn't be the first time.

Diagnosed July 2007, stage 3 colon cancer. In September 2015 my oncologist finally said I am in clinical remission after 8 years. In 2010 I was diagnosed with stage 1 lobular breast cancer which has nothing to do with my primary colon cancer.
Positive thoughts and best wishes to all!
