Imagine that

Postby justin case » Fri Feb 12, 2016 9:15 pm

4 years ago today, I got home with my new friend, complete with compounds, bags and adhesives ! I was alive after colon and rectal surgery ! I was then confined to do nothing but heal ! I puked for a few days, I didn't realize my innards were lime green, after decomposition, until my bucket proved it. My little friend, got full quite often. Well after enough Ensures, I knew I was good to go ! I was home with nothing to do for at least 6 weeks 8) Well, I stopped pooping, and nothing in the bag resembled, anything more than green jello  OK, it's just bile,(or some other disgusting, manifest of the human body), butt a week later, as I saw my surgeon, he was quick to point something out. " You look like shit. Why didn't you go to the emergency room ?" Me, of course responded in my own typical way, "It was my birthday" 8) He responded ever so nicely, "So, you would rather die on your birthday, than go to the emergency room?" 1 week later, I was done with my ostomy, and haven't been so close to renal failure again !
Don't be afraid of the ER,

I was not hydrating well. It was discovered I had a blockage from surgery. I had a surgery 3 weeks after the first one, and got reversed. Perhaps as a colon absorbs liquid to hydrate the body, an ileostomy differs liquid, before it can be absorbed properly. Therefore it is prudent to hydrate in excess. JMHO
Also, it is worth noting, a reversal can be done soon after the procedure was completed.
