I don't know if this will help....I've had my stoma for 3 years....some days it can be almost 1 3/4 inches and then some days it is flush to my abdomen ....don't know why such a large variation...and it was very unsettling the first few times of either extreme...usually I'm 1 inch. My "stoma " nurse said nothing to worry about, so I don't. Still it looks weird either way , but no pain or discomfort.

You might have a slight blockage - my stoma's about half an inch high, but when its "working" it draws right back inside my body, then pulses out, then draws back etc, just with peristalsis. That's entirely normal and its possible you've just not noticed it before - I dont know about you but when things are happening, I dont rip my bag off to watch, I've only seen it happen like in the shower or something or if I change a bag midway between bm's as I sometimes have to do.

I'm just guessing but if yours is working hard to push something through, this might be why. If it stays that way though, a call to your doc would probably be in order.
