Colonoscopy went well

Postby DarknessEmbraced » Thu Jan 28, 2016 11:16 am

Colonoscopy went well. No biopsies were taken. So now I wait until Monday to find out when my surgeon wants to see me for a follow up. It took three tries for the nurses to get an IV started. I have deep small veins, that roll and have bad valves. Had a short nap. Feel kind if woozy and a little dizzy. It's either from being tired, from being dehydrated or from the sedation for the colonoscopy. It's most likely a combination of all three. I had some pizza and a lava crunch cake. Hope it doesn't cause any issues. My asthma is acting up some. I do pulmonary function testing at the hospital tomorrow. I did take my prednisone later which probably didn't help.

So glad that you are home and feeling a little better. It is always a relief to have the procedure completed. You are brave eating pizza. I usually cant hold real food for days and I haven't had surgery other than polypectomies yet. Rest and feel better.

I usually don't have problems eating following my colonoscopies. Just concerned that my colitis will act up later.

Hi DE, I have been following your problems when I have been lurking. I certainly hope the Doctors figure out how to help you.
Wishing you the best outcome of results. I am suprised the colonoscopy Doctor/Nurse did not give you any outcome information after your recent colonoscopy.
I have found the pico-salax takes a while to start things up. I take the first pouch about 1 hour before they say to.
Since you are a 'hugger', *hugs* for you. :D
Positive FIT test Spring 2013(intermittent blood=of course thought it was hemorrhoid) & finally got appt with colo-rectal surgeon Dec.2013 & then colonoscopy Aug. 2014
Sigmoid resection (laparoscopic) Nov. 2014 T3N0M0=colon 2A Female 53 yrs. old
Choice of to take Capecitabine(Xeloda) or not: did 2 rounds and then had to quit due to many side-effects(still have auto-immune/drug-induced arthritis problems)
Colonoscopy Fall 2015(few polyps), Jan 2017(couple polyps); all scans/CEA/monitoring good :D

Thanks cowgirl and B! My surgeon said he didn't want to tell me the results right away because I wouldn't remember because of the sedation. He's not in his office on Friday. His receptionist said he'd tell her on Monday when he wants to see me again. Since no biopsies were taken hopefully it's not a long wait. Never can have too many hugs! :D

I know you are left with a lot of questions on treatment going forward, but this should be very good news. I am not sure how much they have in common, but my husband has had ulcerative colitis for nearly 45 years and he is doing pretty well. Lots of scopes (every two years) and he has had to change meds but he has never been hospitalized for it except for the initial diagnosis. (Ironically I got the CRC so we now have our GI doc in common; the family that scopes together stays together). Good luck going forward. Lois
