I've read that it's possible that adhesions can cause ischemic colitis so it may have been due to my surgery. I've had tenderness and pain on the right side as well since surgery but maybe that's referred pain. Unfortunately I don't have a medical team as doctors don't work that way here. Doctors here don't sit down together and discuss my various conditions. They do get copies of the results of various tests. I wish I had a medical team. The surgeon who did the sigmoidoscopy and who is doing the colonoscopy said he would talk to GI doctors to find out what other tests should be run to find out the cause of my ischemic colitis. I believe an angiogram would be useful to see where the blood flow to my colon has been reduced. Ideally possibly a referral to a cardiologist but referrals take a long time here. So do getting appointments for scans. I have to wait until March for my sinus ct and until June for my thyroid/neck ultrasound. All of my doctors are aware of all of my medications. I might have had ischemic colitis for a while. It's impossible to say at this point.

DE,

When I had my very first colonoscopy, which is when my rectal tumor was found, my GI was trying to find out why I had constant bowel issues. He took numerous biopsies to rule things out such as celiac disease. If you are having a colonoscopy anyway, have them do a biopsy for celiac. The blood test is a screening tool, but only a biopsy can confirm the diagnosis.

Just an idea....
Dx Feb 2010 4 cm tumor, just inside rectum
EUS stated T3 tumor
2nd opinion, need better path
Mar 2010 transanal surgery. Surgery by board certified CRS found tumor only in lining
6 exams of surg site, 3 PET, 3 scopes laterNED.
Scope in Mar2015, clean colon
Next scope/test in 3 years

They did a lot of biopsies during my colonoscopy before surgery and during my second sigmoidoscopy. I thought celiac disease was mainly found in the small intestine? I can ask about it.
