Have you had similar symptoms?

Postby Mintcracknel » Sat Dec 26, 2015 2:13 pm

After a year and a half of multiple symptoms I was sent for an MRI due to back and leg pain amongst other things. They found a bulging disc but also found enlarged lymph node glands near my rectum. My GP did a brief exam and couldn't feel or see anything so I am waiting for an appointment for a colonoscopy. She has said there could be many reasons and I am dealing with internal inflammation at the moment due to diabetes etc but the position of the lymph nodes is scaring me to death. I am trying to tell myself it's not necessarily cancer but I've always been a worrier. Has anyone else had a similar experience.

Yours hopefully

Welcome,

A few yrs back for follow up care regarding my rectal cancer. I had a couple of lymph note that were "enlarged" in my stomach area on a CAT scan. My Onc told me at the time, could be a number of things, cancer is just one possible reasons. She suspected my body had been exposed to a virus/infection and those lymph notes were just doing there job, fighting off some infection. 6 months later on next scan, no more enlarged lymph nodes.

What symptoms are you having that you fear colon rectal cancer?

You are most welcome :D . At the time, I had too young kids and she believed one of my kids brought some bug home from school. She told me not to worry about it because I had no other symptoms. At the time, I was still gaining weight on a regular basis and that is what told her I was fine.

Happy Holidays to you and your family,

Thanks Lee. I have coeliac and accidentally ate gluten in March and was very ill with stomach problems and vomiting etc. Since then my symptoms became less frequent until about 4-6 weeks ago. My stomach pains and diarrhoea at short notice has become a regular occurrence. I also have left side tenderness in my abdomen. This morning I had a heavy achy feeling in my rectum so you can appreciate why I am worried.

Thank you for replying.

As much as I'm trying to think positively I can't help but worry. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas for dealing with the uncertainty. :|

I spent all my time getting my house and everything I could think of in order while I waited for surgery, test results, etc. That helped keep my mind off things. Hope everything turns out ok for you!

I've just received an automated message saying its a reminder for my appointment on 5/1 at a dept at the hospital. I wasn't aware an appointment had been offered and no-ones answering when I try to ring them. When I've looked up the dept it's the cancer suite. Is this normal as my GP told me not to worry and that I'd get an appointment for a colonoscopy but that it could be lots of things.

I'm new to being sick too..

It has been about 10 days Now I been told I have cecum cancer..

Right now I'm numb and the more I read the worse I feel. At this point and I'm being serious too, if I read about testicle cancer. I promise you I would have it and I don't even have testicles.

I decided I'm done looking whatever it is, it is..

I have Gerd really bad too.. I said to hell with with stupid Gerd diet.. I ate a Double cheeseburger, onion rings and a red velvet shake.. I been eating rabbit for three months since they diagnosed my Gerd first and then started all the other nerve racking tests...

You know what? That made me feel better...

Just go eat your favorite food and forget about it. Sounds crazy but it worked me... :D

I wish you the best....

Worry gets us nowhere just makes us all nuts cause we can't think straight...

Call your GP if you can, I'm not aware of colonoscopies been done in a cancer ward.. If you are scheduled for a colonoscopy you will need to get the prep solution. If you are scheduled for next Tuesday, you will be prepping on Monday.

Good luck,

I've managed to speak to the hospital. It's for an initial consultation and I thought I would be having a colonoscopy. All such cases are now dealt with by this department, in my case swollen lymph nodes near rectum. I suppose it's one step closer to getting some answers.

Thanks for your comments, it's very mich appreciated x

Is you appt in the cancer dept? Swollen nodes can happen for a number of reasons not cancer related.
