Copay Mystery

Postby BrownBagger » Fri Dec 25, 2015 10:59 am

My prescription medication copay has been $10 for the past few years (though no copay at all for the Xeloda). The last two times I've filled scripts, however, the copay has been $0. I'm not complaining. Just wondering what might be up with my ins. co. which is BC/BS of Rochester, NY.

I guess I should see if my doctor visit copay has changed.

Maybe you hit your maximum out of pocket. If so, stock up cause costs will come back in January.

We quit having copays sometime in the middle of the year. Pharmacist said we probably met deductible too. Haven't asked again but I expect ours to go back up in jan. too. Too bad it didn't do it a little earlier for you

2015 saw insurance companies figure out how to apply the prescription drug out of pocket towards the total maximum out of pocket, so, as others have said...you likely met your maximum out of pocket. Enjoy while you can....2016 is just around the corner and it will all start up again.

Yes, it looks like you hit your max out of pocket. If possible pick up meds you need in the near future before December 31st as you won't have to pay anything.
