On the road again

Postby justin case » Thu Dec 24, 2015 5:54 pm

In November of last year, the PA at my oncologist's office, told me my CEA was on the rise, and I had 4 nodules in my lungs  The oncologist would not look in my eyes  My oncologist has always been too straight forward with me, and perhaps the facility noticed. I was told I needed a CT scan, as my CEA was rising. I knew my oncologist, and she was hesitant to push me into the scan. I avoided doing the scan, and waited it out. Again, I saw the PA , who was livid, I didn't get my scan, and my CEA was rising. (She knew I was watching my CEA) Once again, I was not intimidated, as my oncologist didn't even bother to get involved. I told the facility I no longer needed their services, went to another facility, which had my CEA, at 3.2 instead of 6.7
They recognized 1 node at 6mm, instead of 4 nodes
Previous PET scans, CT scans, showed that node at 8mm with no cancer
Saving a few dollars, not doing CT scans, I was able to take a trip to New Orleans, and Biloxi, Mississippi. One of my bucket list items, was to see the Mississippi river, and go to the other side.
I feel great, and it's off to Biloxi, Mississippi once again. Cancer will just have to catch me, before I'm willing to dote on it more 8) 8) 8)

What a story, Michael! I'm very happy to hear it turned out so well! However, I was a little worried about this:

"Go to the other side"?!

Then I realized you meant the other side of the Mississippi river! Whew! :D

One day I want to go to New Orleans and eat beignets at Cafe du Monde. Did you drink any of the bitter chicory coffee? The story goes that they brewed it with chicory to deter the reportedly effete tastebuds of Union soldiers. Have fun in Biloxi!

Café Du Monde, was just a few minutes from the Hilton. Mothers Poorboy's (Featured on the food shows) is also very close. The River Hilton, has an outlook on the Mississippi. Harrah's casino is across the street. The French Quarter is within walking distance, as well as Bourbon Street.( If I should happen to get on the other side, I know a lot of good people, just sayin 8)) One day, I may even go to NYC, it's the only city of the big 3, I haven't lived in! As for chicory, I'm not a fan. Community coffee is Louisiana's trademark brand, and is readily available throughout Texas. If I knew how to post pictures here, I would, butt having to go to a web sight to configure the picture, download it to here, is just too much trouble, and way too many opportunities to get Malware.
Happy Holidays,
Michael

I was wondering how come the nodule we t from 8 to 6 mm if it's not cancer. I have one that went from 3 to 2 mm but nobody explained how could that be if it isn't a met?

Glad you have fun. I saw Lewis Black in Biloxi a million years ago.
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?

Quite frankly, I just didn't eat until I got there  Then in the hotel, I was remiss when I only saw a half of roll, but there it was, another one 8) I'm just pissed I left $42.00 in comp food, so I could drive home
Then I was really worried when traffic shut down on the Achafalalya bridge (22miles long)
Butt life is back to normal, except, I'm pretty sure I will see the New Year, once again
